The Dubai recruiter's tech stack under AED 500/month
Everything you need to run a recruitment desk in Dubai for less than the cost of a Friday brunch.
You don't need to spend AED 5,000/month on tools
I talk to recruiters setting up in Dubai all the time. One of the first questions is always about tools. What CRM should I use. Do I need LinkedIn Recruiter. What about job boards. They assume the tech stack costs AED 3,000-5,000 per month because that's what their old agency paid.
It doesn't. You can run a fully functional recruitment desk in Dubai for less than the cost of a Friday brunch at Nobu. Here's exactly what you need.
Recruitly Free Plan: AED 0
Full disclosure, I'm the Head of Engineering at Recruitly, so I'm biased. But also honest. Our free plan gives you a complete CRM, applicant tracking system, candidate pipeline, email integration, WhatsApp integration, AI sourcing credits, branded CVs, and job posting. Everything a solo recruiter needs to run their desk.
This isn't a 14-day trial that expires. It's a genuinely free plan. You can use it indefinitely. We make money when agencies grow and upgrade for more AI credits, more users, and advanced reporting. But the core product works without paying anything.
LinkedIn Free + Boolean Search: AED 0
You don't need LinkedIn Recruiter Lite or Sales Navigator to start. Free LinkedIn with proper boolean search gets you surprisingly far. Most recruiters don't use boolean operators at all, which means they're leaving candidates on the table.
Learn these operators and you'll outperform recruiters paying AED 400/month for Sales Navigator: "recruitment consultant" AND "dubai" AND "finance" NOT "intern". Combine job title, location, industry, and exclusions. Use quotes for exact phrases. Use parentheses for complex queries like ("project manager" OR "programme manager") AND "construction" AND "dubai".
Free LinkedIn limits your searches and connection requests. But for the first 3-6 months while you're building your desk, it's enough.
WhatsApp: AED 0
In Dubai, WhatsApp is the primary business communication tool. Not email. Not phone calls. WhatsApp. Candidates expect you to message them on WhatsApp. Clients send you job briefs on WhatsApp. Offer negotiations happen on WhatsApp. If you're not using it, you're working against how Dubai actually operates.
It's already on your phone. With Recruitly's WhatsApp integration, every message gets logged to your CRM automatically. No manual data entry. Your WhatsApp conversations sit alongside your email history, interview notes, and placement records in one candidate profile.
Google Workspace: AED 25/month
This is your only essential paid tool. AED 25/month for Google Workspace Starter gives you professional email (yourname@youragency.com), calendar, and Google Drive. Sending CVs from a gmail.com address looks amateur. A branded email domain costs less than a single coffee at Five Palm Jumeirah.
Google Calendar for interview scheduling, Google Drive for contracts and templates, Google Meet for video interviews. It all works together and it all syncs with Recruitly.
Bayt.com Free Posting: AED 0
Bayt.com is the largest job board in the Middle East. They offer limited free job postings. It's enough to get started. You won't get hundreds of applications, but you'll get some, and in niche sectors even a few good candidates from a Bayt posting can lead to a placement.
Paid Bayt plans start around AED 500/month for proper job board access and CV database search. Add that when you're billing consistently. Not before.
Canva Free: AED 0
Job ad graphics for LinkedIn, social media content, branded documents, presentation decks for client pitches. Canva's free plan handles all of it. The templates are good enough that your posts will look professional without hiring a designer.
Total: AED 25/month
That's your baseline. Twenty-five dirhams. A complete recruitment tech stack for less than a shawarma platter at Salt Bae's. Your CRM, your sourcing, your communication, your marketing, your email. All covered.
Even if you add LinkedIn Sales Navigator at AED 400/month, you're still under AED 500 total. That's the entire headline. You can run a professional recruitment desk in Dubai for under AED 500/month.
What to add when you start billing
Once you've made your first 2-3 placements and have cash flow: LinkedIn Sales Navigator (AED 400/month) for unlimited searches and InMails. Bayt.com or GulfTalent paid plan (AED 500-1,500/month) for CV database access. Recruitly paid plan for more AI sourcing credits, advanced reporting, and marketplace integrations.
What NOT to buy on day one
Don't buy expensive job board subscriptions before you have clients. Don't pay for multiple CRM licences when it's just you. Don't invest in fancy office software, video editing tools, or marketing automation platforms. Every dirham you spend on tools before you're billing is a dirham less in your runway.
Keep it lean. Let revenue justify each upgrade. The best solo recruiters I see on our platform ran on the free stack for 6-12 months before spending anything meaningful on tools.
