CV parsing now reads image-based PDFs

improvementfix

Some CVs arrive as fully designed PDFs — photo, branded layout, the whole document exported as an image rather than selectable text. Until now, those CVs landed in Recruitly with empty fields because the parser had no text to read. That's fixed for everyone.

What's changed

  • Image-only PDFs and scanned CVs are now processed before parsing, so name, contact details, work history, and skills come through the same as a regular text PDF.
  • Mixed PDFs (some pages text, some pages image) are handled automatically — each page is processed with the right method.
  • Multilingual content is supported, so CVs in any language parse cleanly without needing to flag the language manually.

Where you'll notice it

Any CV uploaded via Drop-Anywhere, the candidate form, email forwarding, or the API. No setting to toggle — it just works.

Why it matters

Designed, image-based CVs are common everywhere — from creative and design roles, to senior executives with branded personal CVs, to regions where image-PDF templates are the norm. Recruiters were spending real time retyping candidate details from PDFs the parser couldn't read. That manual step is gone.
