Candidates already message recruiters on WhatsApp, and when they want to talk they press the call button. If that chat is on a recruiter's personal phone, the call lands there too and nothing reaches the CRM. Agencies on Recruitly can now turn on WhatsApp calls for a WhatsApp Business number, and the call rings in Recruitly like any other phone call.

What are WhatsApp calls in Recruitly?

WhatsApp calls let a candidate or client call your WhatsApp Business number from the WhatsApp app, and the call rings in Recruitly. It is the same number they already message, so they have nothing new to save. It works on numbers you run through the AI Phone System with WhatsApp Business connected.

An admin turns WhatsApp calls on, WhatsApp allows it, candidates and clients call from WhatsApp, and it rings in Recruitly with Simi's notes.
The call starts in the app they already use and finishes on your record.

How do recruiters answer a WhatsApp call in their CRM?

A recruiter answers a WhatsApp call the way they answer any call in Recruitly. It rings the person or main line the number is assigned to, and it follows the answer rules and voicemail you already set. If your account records calls, Simi writes up the conversation from the recording, the same as a phone call, so the notes land on the record without anyone typing them. After the call, the Calls list shows WhatsApp as the source.

How do you turn on WhatsApp calls?

An admin turns on WhatsApp calls one number at a time, in Phone System under WhatsApp Business. Each number has a WhatsApp calls card that checks three things: the number is live on WhatsApp Business, it is assigned to someone so calls have somewhere to ring, and it can message 2,000 people a day. Click Turn on and we ask WhatsApp straight away. The help guide walks through each screen.

Why does WhatsApp need a limit of 2,000 people a day?

WhatsApp only allows calls on a business number once that number can message 2,000 people a day. This is Meta's own rule for its Calling API, and it applies to calls coming in as well as going out. The limit is a rating on your number, so you do not have to send 2,000 messages. A newly connected number often starts lower.

You can still click Turn on. The number shows Waiting for WhatsApp with the reason, we check every hour, and we email your admins as soon as calls are on. If WhatsApp ever stops calls on a number, it goes back to waiting and your admins hear about that too. Messages, phone calls and SMS carry on as normal the whole time.

What does a WhatsApp call cost?

WhatsApp calls are billed by the minute from your Recruitly credit balance, like your other calls. There is no monthly fee for turning them on, and Meta does not charge for calls that candidates and clients place to you.

What can WhatsApp calls not do yet?

WhatsApp calls in Recruitly are inbound only, so candidates and clients call you and you cannot call them on WhatsApp from Recruitly yet. A WhatsApp call also cannot be forwarded to a mobile or an outside line, because WhatsApp does not connect to the phone network. If your no-answer rule forwards to a mobile, the call moves on to your next step, usually voicemail. And the 2,000-a-day limit sits with WhatsApp, so a new number may wait a while.

Why should recruitment agencies care about WhatsApp calls?

A candidate who presses call on WhatsApp has decided they want to talk to you, and that is the moment a good recruiter wants to be reachable. Keeping the call on your company number means the relationship belongs to the agency, the next consultant can see what was said, and the recruiter gets on with the conversation while Simi takes the notes. The agencies I speak to are not short of candidates. They are short of hours, and this gives some back, with every WhatsApp conversation and now every WhatsApp call sitting in one place.
